Why Choose Family Medicine at Riverside Methodist Hospital
Our residency program is designed to bring you up to speed smoothly, while learning from the best minds in the field.
An Innovative Curriculum Dedicated to Training Family Medicine Leaders
Your voice is valued and respected.
We employ continuous evaluation based on resident feedback for game-changing innovation in how we work. This out-of-the box thinking has led to two resident-initiated additions to our program that are now part of our everyday medical office experience. One example is Doc of the Day, which improves workflow with a single point physician who is focused on practice management and acute care. The other addition is The Daily Huddle, which improves communication and daily planning with a collaborative team that includes a physician, nurse, medical assistant and medical students.
Residents are incorporated in our curriculum and office committees and help shape the way they learn and practice medicine.
Exceptional Training Sets Us Apart
We provide each resident with expert competency in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The majority of outpatient and rotation activities are conveniently located within walking distance of OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital and our family medicine office.
- Robust inpatient and outpatient care experiences including strong pediatric experiences
-
Intern year provides strong inpatient medicine experiences, while upper level residents experience a variety of outpatient experiences and home call to best prepare them for any career path they choose. Our office patient population is more than 25% pediatrics, well exceeding ACGME standards.
- Focused Leadership Training
-
PGY level-specific leadership training gives residents the skills they need to be leaders within teams during residency, as well as beyond residency — in their practices, communities and national endeavors. You will find many of our graduates in local, state and national leadership positions.
- Realistic Evidence-Based Medicine Skills
-
We foster an environment that sets our residents up for lifetime learning, giving them the tools to discern what’s important in the ever-changing medical literature as well as how to apply it.
- Protected Scholarly Time
-
We build scholarly time into the curricular day, so residents can complete their projects during regular working hours. We have a rich legacy of graduates who have presented at the national level and have been published.
- Comprehensive community-focused care in our office
-
Residents provide care in a variety of settings within our office, including several specialty clinics (sports medicine with musculoskeletal ultrasound, gynecology procedures, skin procedures, adolescent care, and MAT). Our Food is Health program allows residents to provide free fresh foods and nutrition education to our patients who experience food insecurity.
