Giving incentives for 2021

  • A universal charitable deduction for up to $300 is now available to all taxpayers, not just those who itemize.
  • Lifting of cap on annual contributions - Contributions to public charities are generally limited to 60% of a taxpayer’s adjusted gross income (AGI). The 2020 CARES Act lifts the cap on annual contributions for those who itemize, increasing it to 100% of AGI for 2021. Any excess contributions available can be carried over to the next five years.
