Through prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship, OhioHealth is committed to those we serve. Our rehabilitation program is designed to maintain and improve the quality of life of patients diagnosed with cancer throughout their care journey.

Support beyond treatment

Our rehabilitation program includes oncology-specialized physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists who address health struggles associated with cancer treatment:

  • Pain and swelling
  • Decreased strength and range of motion
  • Cording and soft tissue tightness and restrictions
  • Risk of infections or lymphedema
  • Loss of cardiac function
  • Fatigue and loss of physical function
  • Bone and muscle loss
  • Neuropathy
  • Weight gain
  • Postural changes
  • Bowel and bladder dysfunction
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Difficulty with memory and cognition
  • Difficulty with swallowing

Cancer rehabilitation therapies we provide

Lymphedema therapy

Manual therapy treatments and education in compression methods to reduce lymphatic fluid buildup.

Musculoskeletal therapy 

Manual therapy that includes stretching, strength training and aerobic exercises to increase range of motion, strength and endurance.

Cardiovascular and Cardiopulmonary therapy

Includes strength training and aerobic exercise to increase endurance and strengthen cardiac muscles.

Functional therapy

Uses body mechanics and functional training as well as exercise and energy conservation methods to increase quality of life and minimize stress to the body.
