Our residency supports your long-term success in whatever area of practice you choose. Your core curriculum will ensure you’re well prepared for board exams, while providing flexibility to adapt to individual learning styles, practice plans and career directions.

Our broad-based training prepares you to enter a fellowship of your choice, if that’s part of your career path. Many of our residents enter competitive fellowship programs, such as Mohs, dermatopathology, pediatrics and cutaneous oncology.

You’ll practice in highly varied rural, urban and specialty settings and treat patients with common and complex diseases. Your experiences include several months each year in faculty-supervised outpatient clinics. You’ll also experience challenging, high-volume inpatient care for patients of all ages at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University Medical Center.

Free and Specialty Clinics — Throughout your three years of training you’ll have opportunities to work in our free clinics as well as in a variety of dermatologic specialty clinics. Areas of focus include patch testing, cutaneous t-cell lymphoma (CTCL), pigmented lesion and cosmetics.

You’ll spend two months each year managing inpatient and outpatient pediatric cases at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) — a destination academic pediatric medical center. NCH treats a wide range of common childhood skin conditions and rare dermatologic disorders.

Exceptional patient care requires active professional engagement and a lifelong commitment to learning. Our residents are involved in professional associations and events, such as the American Academy of Dermatology Conference and Real World Dermatology Conference. As part of our team, you’ll enjoy a well-rounded and fulfilling experience.

We encourage you to publish at least once annually within your areas of interest. You’ll have all the support you need from both faculty and OhioHealth personnel to help you attain your research and academic goals.
