Because MS presents differently in each patient and varies in aggressiveness, we personalize treatment plans to you and your needs. At OhioHealth, patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) have access to personalized care — all in one place — by an interdisciplinary team of specialists who, together, provide comprehensive care throughout the course of their disease.
We treat all types of MS and its symptoms in our MS Clinic, located in the OhioHealth Neuroscience Center at Riverside Methodist Hospital.Learn More
If you need additional specialized care to manage your symptoms or if you’re interested in non-medication alternatives, we offer several options that set our MS program apart. Our neurological rehabilitation therapists help MS patients manage their symptoms for a better quality of life. We offer:
MS physical therapy, customized to your needs
Pelvic floor physical therapy for bladder control and sexual function
Vestibular physical therapy for vertigo and dizziness
Speech therapy for cognitive impairment and swallowing difficulties
Wheelchair seating clinics and driving and functional evaluations
We offer an MS Wellness Program at OhioHealth McConnell Heart Health Center to improve your overall health and fitness and, ultimately, your quality of life.
Spasticity is a common symptom of MS that refers to stiffness and involuntary muscle spasms that can be painful. Our spasticity program is one of the largest in the country, offering intrathecal baclofen and Botox® injections and other therapies. We also offer stretching techniques to help relieve symptoms.
MS patients may experience acute flare-ups that require emergency care. If you need to see your MS neurologist right away, we are able to urgently triage your needs and schedule an appointment within 24 to 48 hours. Also, if travel to Columbus is difficult, our MS specialists conveniently see patients for their regular appointments at OhioHealth Pickerington Medical Campus and OhioHealth Delaware Health Center.
Every day, OhioHealth is seeking new answers to the treatment of MS and its symptoms through research and active participation in MS clinical trials. Our experts present our findings nationally and internationally.
To OhioHealth, comprehensive care for MS patients means connecting you with a wide range of resources and programs — beyond medications — to help you cope and improve your quality of life.
