After delivery, you’ll be moved to a private postpartum room. It includes comfortable sleeping accommodations for you and your partner. Other amenities include a private bathroom and shower, adjustable lighting, rocking chair or glider, telephone, television and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Meeting Your Baby
You will have the chance to hold your new baby as soon as he or she is born. Your baby will be placed directly on your bare chest for Kangaroo Care.
After a normal delivery, we encourage you to keep your baby with you in your room as much as possible to begin the natural bonding process. If you require rest or additional medical care, your baby may be cared for in the nursery near the postpartum room.
When You Have Visitors
For the safety and wellness of you and your baby, visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitors park free in the lot in front of the hospital. A patient liaison can direct them to your room.
Visitor Policy Changes Due to COVID-19: Maternity patients are limited to two support people, who may stay at the hospital for the duration of the stay. Both visitors must be 18 or older and only one can spend the night.
A doula will be permitted for labor and delivery. Doulas must follow the same policies and screenings as visitors. Laboring patients who are minors may have their parents or guardians as visitors, in addition to the parent-to-be of the baby. Care sites with NICUs will follow Nationwide Children’s Hospital visitor management policy.
Be sure to view the Visitor Restrictions and Mask Use section of our COVID-19 policy updates for the latest visitor guidelines. If you have any questions, call our care site for more information.
