Outpatient rehabilitation services

OhioHealth’s outpatient neurological rehabilitation includes nationally-recognized experts, and board-certified clinical specialists with advanced training in the treatment of neurologic conditions. Outpatient services include:

  • Physical therapy: Improve strength, balance, walking and movement.
  • Occupational therapy: Relearn daily tasks and build skills to achieve independence at home, work, school and with driving.  
  • Speech therapy: Strengthen communication, thinking skills and swallowing with personalized treatment.
  • Care management: Guidance from social workers who help coordinate care and connect you to resources.

Specialty rehabilitation services

OhioHealth offers specialty rehabilitation services that combine personalized equipment, training and technology to help you return to everyday activities at home, work and in the community. Our specialty programs include:

  • Alternative and augmentative communication (AAC): Speech therapists use the latest technology to improve communication skills.
  • Assistive technology: Therapists that specialize in customized computer and digital tools that support independence with daily tasks at home or work.  
  • Driver rehabilitation: Evaluation and training in a facility vehicle performed by certified driver rehabilitation specialists.  Service includes vehicle modifications and resource education.
  • Neurological Pelvic Health Rehab: Improve incontinence and pain due to a neurological condition with specialized pelvic floor therapy.
  • Vestibular Rehab: Reduce dizziness and improve balance through targeted vestibular physical therapy.
  • Wheelchair seating and positioning: Customized mobility and seating solutions for comfort, safety and independence.

Inpatient rehabilitation services

Some patients need focused, daily rehabilitation that can only be provided during a hospital stay. OhioHealth offers inpatient neurological rehabilitation with a hands‑on, team‑based approach designed to help patients regain skills and return to daily life as safely and quickly as possible. Inpatient rehabilitation services include:

 

  • Stroke rehabilitation: Coordinated care addressing physical, cognitive, emotional and functional recovery.
  • Brain injury rehabilitation: Individualized therapy to rebuild skills, strength and independence.
  • Spinal cord injury rehabilitation: Early, intensive rehabilitation focused on mobility, daily activities and use of adaptive technology.

Inpatient neurological rehabilitation is available at OhioHealth Rehabilitation Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, OhioHealth Rehabilitation Hospital in Dublin, Ohio and at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio. When ready for discharge, patients can continue therapy at our outpatient locations for ongoing recovery and support.
