At OhioHealth, we recognize how important it is to understand LGBTQ patients’ identities, experiences and relationships as we partner with them in their health and wellness journeys. We are dedicated to making sure all our patients, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race or religion, can be their authentic selves when they come to our medical offices and hospitals.


Primary Care Services

  • Preventive care
  • Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP therapy)
  • Testing for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
  • Testing for sexually-transmitted infections (STIs)
  • Contraceptive care, including placement of long acting reversible contraception
  • Gender-affirming hormonal therapy


  • Voice and communication therapy
  • Pelvic floor physical therapy


Gender Affirming Surgical Procedures

  • Orchiectomy – removal of the testes 
  • Vaginoplasty – removal of penis, scrotum, and testicles, and creation of vagina using penile skin
  • Metoidioplasty – creation of a penis by releasing hormonally enlarged clitoris. This includes the following procedures: 
    • Scrotoplasty – creation of a scrotum, with testicular implants 
    • Urethroplasty – a urethral lengthening procedure done at the time of metoidioplasty 
    • Vaginectomy – removal and closure of the vaginal canal 
  • Hysterectomy and Oophorectomy – removal of the uterus and/or ovaries, in most cases done robotically to allow for outpatient surgery and a faster recovery, all done in collaboration with a local gynecologist
