The Family Medicine Residency at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center was established in 1971 as one of the first programs approved by the ACGME. The program has graduated more than 400 family physicians and is currently training 38 residents.

Training in Family Medicine includes inpatient and outpatient care. Residents are exposed to a wide range of clinical services, a comprehensive variety of medical disciplines and a diverse patient population. The program supports two outpatient sites — located in Grove City and Whitehall, Ohio, where residents averaged more than 34,000 patient encounters last year. Additionally, the program maintains an active inpatient presence with residents caring for general medical, critical care and acute care needs, including code blues, sepsis alerts and Rapid Assessment Team calls.

The faculty includes 10 full-time and two part-time physicians, as well as a dedicated behaviorist. All faculty members are board certified in Family Medicine with special interest ranging from maternal-child health, obstetrics, geriatrics, addiction medicine, women’s health, hospice and diabetes management.
