Grant Medical Center was the first hospital in central Ohio and one of the few in the nation to establish Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit, where we provide care that’s designed to address the unique needs of patients age 70 and older. In this unit, we’re focused on:
Providing treatment using evidence-based medicine for elderly patients
Maintaining patients’ functionality while maximizing their rest
Decreasing the risk of delirium and/or falls, which is otherwise high among elderly patients
Educating patients and their family about their illness and the healing process
In addition, ACE medical staff members support the transition of elderly patients to their home or a skilled nursing facility.
