Pharmacy Residencies are offered at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital and OhioHealth Grant Medical Center.

OhioHealth is a family of not-for-profit, faith-based hospitals and healthcare organizations serving 40 counties in central Ohio. Hospitals include eleven member hospitals and 10 managed/affiliated hospitals. Other services include more than 25 health and surgery centers as well as services of for home care, medical equipment and hospice.

About Riverside Methodist and Grant

OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital is a 1,058-bed, private, community, not-for-profit, tertiary care teaching hospital with more than 5,000 employees. It is part of the multihospital OhioHealth system and Ohio's largest acute care hospital. With a pharmacy program designed to impact patient outcomes, e.g., reduced readmissions, improved medication compliance, reduced adverse events, etc., the department has a clear focus on creating and sustaining a patient-centered medical care model. Complete unit dose and IV admixture services are provided from the centralized area on a 24-hour basis utilizing advanced robotic technology and automated dispensing cabinets. The department operates an established decentralized pharmacist program and satellites serving the critical care area and emergency departments. Specialties include but are not limited to anticoagulation services, cardiac rehabilitation, critical care, cardiology, outpatient congestive heart failure clinic, OB/GYN, oncology, neonatal intensive care, nephrology, neurology neurological intensive care, outpatient infusion center, psychiatry, pulmonary medicine and surgery. The pharmacists also participate in all code blue situations. Pharmacist participation in ambulatory care arenas includes anticoagulation, congestive heart failure, diabetes, asthma and many other areas of patient care.

OhioHealth Grant Medical Center is a 640-bed, private, community, not-for-profit, teaching hospital and part of the multihospital OhioHealth system. It is a Level One Trauma Center, offering a wide range of medical services and specialties including surgery, trauma and critical care, endocrinology, neurology, OB/GYN, oncology, ophthalmology, spinal rehabilitation, nutrition support, wound care, joint implantation, pain management, rehabilitation and sports medicine. The department of pharmacy is a recognized leader in contemporary pharmacy practice. It operates two satellites serving the critical units and oncology. The unit dose and IV admixture operations are supported by the Horizon’s MedsManager Pharmacy System, which is fully interfaced with other departments. Over 90 percent of unit dose oral medications are dispensed by RobotRX. All controlled substances are maintained in a state-of-the-art C-II Safe. PYXISMedstations with bio-ID available are on all units. Pharmacists are ACLS certified and participate in all Level One trauma, code blue and sepsis alert situations. Pharmacists participate on patient care rounds, hospital and system-wide committees, and performance improvement teams. Pharmacist participation in ambulatory care clinics includes anticoagulation and congestive heart failure management.
