Addiction Medicine Fellowship - Grant Medical Center

Our fellows become experts in substance-use disorders.

The Addiction Medicine Fellowship at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center is now accepting applications for our next academic year. For those committed to helping patients overcome substance use disorders, this highly competitive one-year program provides unmatched clinical experience and training. Learn from experts at the forefront of innovative treatment methods. Work directly with patients through all stages of care—from urgent inpatient detox to long-term community-based recovery support. Gain insight into the complex medical care, evidence-informed behavioral, and psychosocial treatment. Discover your ability to transform lives through compassionate care.

Our fellowship program is proudly based within OhioHealth, a network of community hospitals and healthcare providers. This allows for a truly holistic experience beyond the academic medical center setting.

Core components of the curriculum include rotations at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center—home to one of the nation's busiest Level 1 Trauma Centers. Here, fellows experience the full spectrum of injuries and emergencies related to substance use. You will consult on complex trauma cases involving addiction, from overdoses and drug-related accidents to violence and self-harm.

Consult on challenging cases across specialties and gain leadership skills to advocate for patients. Foster interdisciplinary collaboration through our network of specialists, social workers, and rehabilitation programs.

Join our team of specialists working to reduce the stigma around addiction and promote whole health approaches. Your training with our ACGME-accredited fellowship will set you up for success in any addiction medicine career path. Space is limited—apply today to be a part of revolutionizing care for those struggling with substance use disorders.

By directly managing patients alongside trauma surgeons and specialists from day one, you will gain exceptional clinical skills in rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment of polydrug toxicity. You will also identify opportunities to intervene, whether providing immediate counseling or linking patients to longer-term recovery programs.

Our fellowship program provides invaluable firsthand experience with the widespread impact of substance use disorders on communities. It offers a unique opportunity to advocate on the frontlines of a public health crisis and work towards establishing more compassionate solutions.
