Our rape crisis programs and services
- 24-hour emergency room advocacy
Trained volunteer and staff advocates provide emotional support, crisis intervention and community resource information to survivors of sexual violence in local hospital emergency departments.
In addition, SARNCO works with Deaf World Against Violence Everywhere to provide advocacy to deaf survivors in the emergency department.
- Forensic Nursing Program
OhioHealth Forensic Nursing provides trained medical forensic care to survivors of sexual violence, felony domestic violence, human trafficking, child abuse/neglect, elder abuse/neglect, as well as child sexual abuse.

Trained volunteer and staff advocates provide confidential emotional support, crisis intervention and community resource information over the phone to survivors of sexual violence, co-survivors and the community.

SARNCO provides comprehensive prevention strategies — including training, education, policy review and outreach — for schools, campuses and businesses. To reach a Prevention Coordinator for training or resources, call (614) 286-5551.
- Aftercare advocacy
This program provides support for survivors whose needs go beyond advocacy received in the emergency room or through a helpline. It empowers survivors and co-survivors to access community resources like reporting with law enforcement and safety planning. Survivors can call (614) 788-4739 to reach our Aftercare Advocacy coordinators.
- Campus advocacy at The Ohio State University
The OhioHealth Sexual Assault Response Network of Central Ohio (SARNCO) now has an advocacy coordinator on the Ohio State University campus who serves survivors and co-survivors of sexual violence. They provide free, confidential support for students, staff, faculty and visitors of the university at no cost, including:
- Respect, emotional support and listening
- Safety planning
- Crisis response
- Information about options
- Connections to other campus and local resources
- Additional support services
A note on confidentiality: campus advocates are not employees of Ohio State University and do not report to its faculty. They do not disclose information to anyone, including law enforcement or the university, except in very limited situations — like when failure to disclose the information would result in imminent danger to the individual or others.

- Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN)
Toll-free support through the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) at (800) 656-HOPE (4673).
- Recovery resources
SARNCO offers free recovery resources, such as books and brochures, to survivors and co-survivors of sexual assault. These materials can be accessed through the 24-hour sexual assault helpline at (844) 644-6435.
