OhioHealth MedCentral Hospitals – Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Who is OhioHealth?
Based in Columbus, Ohio, OhioHealth is a family of not-for-profit, faith-based hospitals and healthcare organizations with over 28,000 physicians, associates and volunteers. With the addition of MedCentral Mansfield and MedCentral Shelby, there are now 12 hospitals in the OhioHealth family.
  2. Will I be able to keep my doctor?
Yes. The same physicians, nurses and associates who you’ve always worked with will still be located at MedCentral Hospitals.
  3. How do I find a doctor?
You can search online by using the MedCentral Physician Finder Tool or OhioHealth Physician Finder Tool.
  4. How can I apply for a job at OhioHealth MedCentral Hospitals?
Visit our Careers section on MedCentral.org and choose the specialty that suits you best. For jobs elsewhere in OhioHealth, visit the Careers section on OhioHealth.com.
  5. Will MedCentral Hospitals now be sending all their patients who need high-level care to an OhioHealth hospital in Columbus?
Actually, our goal is to provide care to people close to where they live. In fact, we are looking to expand healthcare services in the Richland County area with new facilities and physicians. Should you or a family member need an advanced level of care that’s not offered at MedCentral Hospitals, we will seamlessly connect them to one of OhioHealth’s other member hospitals. The final decision is made collaboratively by the patient, their family and their physician.
  6. Will MedCentral Hospitals continue to accept my insurance?
Though the list of accepted insurance plans changes from time to time, we do not expect any changes directly related to MedCentral Hospitals becoming members of the OhioHealth system.
  7. How will the partnership between OhioHealth and MedCentral Hospitals benefit me?
OhioHealth and MedCentral Hospitals share a common vision and strategy, and we are committed to the communities we serve. Together, we have the strength and resources to invest in growth, which means opportunities to add healthcare services and recruit additional physicians to the local community.

OhioHealth physicians are already involved in treating a significant number of patients from the Richland County area. With the partnership, we hope to maintain as much patient care locally as possible and reduce the number of patients who need to leave MedCentral for other facilities. This is better for patients and families, and a proven way to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care.
  8. What is the construction project happening at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital?
A major addition to the MedCentral Mansfield campus is underway, which will expand healthcare services available. The project includes a new and expanded surgery area, a new medical office building, an orthopedic institute, a heart and vascular institute, and office space for additional physician specialists. The expansion is set to open in fall of 2015. To learn more, view the attached expansion fact sheet.
