Innovative Non-Surgical Options

Not all injuries require surgery. OhioHealth Sports Medicine stays on the leading edge of new medical treatments. We provide several non-surgical procedure options that are helping our patients feel better.

Fluoroscopically Guided Injection
Injections to the vertebrae are used to treat leg pain caused by irritation to the spinal nerves.  This procedure reduces inflammation and blocks pain to allow the body to begin the process of healing itself.  It also provides accurate diagnosis of the source of the pain.

Medical Acupuncture
Acupuncture needles stimulate the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord and brain.  These chemicals in turn stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. This type of treatment is especially helpful for neck and low-back pain, tennis elbow and various forms of tendonitis.

Medical Acupuncture is an alternative to surgery

Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) is hands-on care that can be used to ease pain, promote healing and increase overall mobility. It involves using the hands to diagnose, treat and prevent illness or injury. By moving muscles and joints using techniques that include stretching, gentle pressure and resistance, OMT can relieve carpal tunnel syndrome and migraines as well as muscular problems.

Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy is care used to treat sports injuries.

PRP Therapy
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a non-surgical treatment in which blood plasma with concentrated platelets, bioactive proteins and other growth factors are injected into an injury to stimulate the healing process. These bioactive proteins initiate healing in connective tissues such as in the knees and shoulders, as well as initiate repair of bone and cartilage. Merging cutting-edge technology with the body's natural ability to heal itself, PRP therapy is a great treatment option for soft-tissue injuries and arthritis.
