Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. McGowan earned her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and completed medical school training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where she stayed for an internship in internal medicine at Froedtert Hospital/Medical College of Wisconsin.
After five years of long, cold, snowy winters, she moved south to Charlotte, North Carolina where she completed her residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Carolinas Medical Center/Carolinas Rehabilitation. She moved back to Ohio for a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital/MAX Sports Medicine and is now double board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Primary Care Sports Medicine.
Despite all her travels, she still remains an avid Bengals and Reds fan! Locally, she is a team physician for Westerville South High School and has recently partnered with the Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio.
Dr. McGowan is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Working with patients who have had an injury or disease that causes loss of function, and incorporating her background of physical therapy, occupational therapy, electrodiagnostic testing and rehabilitation, she hopes to provide a higher quality of patient experience and improve patients’ quality of life.
