Our Orthopedic Programs

OhioHealth’s nationally recognized orthopedic programs offer advanced treatment plans for a range of bone, muscle and joint conditions.

Non-Surgical Orthopedic Treatments

Many orthopedic conditions can be treated using conservative (non-surgical) measures. Our team of experts will diagnose your pain or injury, and work closely with you to prescribe non-surgical treatment options whenever possible. Non-surgical care includes:

Physical therapy

Using techniques such as massage, manipulation and exercises, we work with patients of all ages to reduce pain, increase function and return you to an active lifestyle. We also offer aquatic therapy to take the load off injured joints.

Regenerative therapy

OhioHealth leads the way when it comes to the innovative field of regenerative medicine. One treatment option is platelet-rich plasma (PRP). PRP is your own blood plasma, which contains concentrated platelets. Platelets have growth factors that initiate and can speed up tissue repair. When PRP is injected into an injured area, the healing process can be stimulated. OhioHealth is also proud to be the first in central Ohio to offer orthopedic  stem cell therapy, also known as cellular medicine or orthobiologic therapy. This treatment takes the healthy cells from your own body, which have a high potential to regenerate tissue, and injects those cells into the injured area of your body, enabling your body to better heal itself. Ultrasound-guided and fluoroscopically-guided injections

Your physician uses live X-ray (fluoroscopy) or a video probe placed against the skin (ultrasound)  to guide the placement of a needle into a joint to inject medication. Injections can be placed into the vertebrae to treat leg pain caused by irritation to the spinal cord or into the knee, hip or shoulder joints to reduce inflammation and pain.

Surgical Orthopedic Treatments

When non-surgical options are exhausted, surgery may be necessary. Your surgeon will talk with you about your goals and help you understand what to expect with your orthopedic surgery. You are a crucial part of this conversation, and you’ll be presented with options so you can make the most informed decision possible.
