Colorectal Cancer Treatments and Technologies
We are on the forefront of colorectal cancer treatment and technology advancements.
At OhioHealth, we offer comprehensive treatment options and develop a care plan that’s best for you and most effective in treating your type of colorectal cancer.
The OhioHealth Grant Medical Center Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship program receives applicants from surgical training programs throughout the United States. Guided by our colorectal surgeons who are experts in advanced diagnosis and treatment techniques, clinical research and leading-edge patient care, their training is represented in specialty practices all over the world.
Comprehensive Treatment Options for Colorectal Cancer
On average across the system, OhioHealth performs more than 300 colorectal surgeries each year. Our expert surgeons collaborate with other specialty areas to precisely determine the best approach to treatment.
- Traditional Surgery
Normal traditional surgery procedures.
- Laparoscopic surgery
Through three to five small incisions, typically with less blood loss, less pain and faster healing.
- Robotic-assisted surgery
This type of surgery provides an unmatched degree of visualization and precision — it requires several small incisions and typically results in less blood loss, less pain and faster healing.
- TAMIS and TEM Surgeries
Leading-edge TransAnal Minimally Invasive Surgery and TransAnal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) for rectal tumors — both are highly specialized, sphincter-sparing procedures.
- Interventional Radiology
One of the newest and most aggressive options in cancer treatment today, interventional radiology targets and treats cancers that cannot be treated surgically by using heating, cooling or microwave energy to kill tumor cells. Patients benefit from low-risk complications and, in some cases, return home the same day.
