Research is critical to the advancement of knowledge and to improving patient care. At OhioHealth, our large and varied patient population combined with our top-notch clinicians and scientists create an excellent environment for clinical research. Conducting research keeps you abreast of developments in your field, provides you with information crucial for improving patient care, and enhances your career prospects.
Efficiency & ExpertiseWe understand that patient care places heavy demands on your time. The OhioHealth Research & Innovation Institute (OHRI) recognizes this and can provide you with multidisciplinary technical and administrative support so you can concentrate on the scientific and clinical aspects of your study.
Research Support ServicesOHRI’s Investigator- Initiated Trials Team (IIT) provides the following services to OhioHealth investigators:
The IIT Team includes a Research Specialist, Biostatistician, and Outcomes Manager and all are available to guide you through the process of developing your study, by providing input on study methodology, sample size/power analysis, development of data tools and supporting documents, and creation of a statistical analysis plan.
OHRI assesses the presence of budgetary, logistical, or clinical impediments to a proposed project’s success and if changing the focus of the study can eliminate these impediments.
Funds to support the purchase of equipment, training, and/or patient procedures for investigator initiated research may be available from internal or external sources. OHRI can help identify potential funding sources and navigate the process.
The IIT Team also includes nurse and non-nurse clinical research coordinators (CRC’s) and assistants who assist with the execution of your research protocol. They may gather existing data from electronic records, recruit and enroll patients prospectively, and/or collect data at multiple time points depending on needs. These team members also maintain the files necessary for regulatory compliance.
The Biostatistician is available to complete your statistical analyses and can
work with you on how to correctly interpret and present these results.
Research is critical to the advancement of knowledge, and your results should be reported. OHRI staff can work with you to write, edit, and format your work into a manuscript suitable for peer-review, or presentation at a local, regional, national or international forum.
