Welcome to Doctors Hospital and its outstanding osteopathic graduate medical education (OGME) programs! Rooted in a rich osteopathic heritage, our residency and fellowship programs are a source of pride to our entire hospital team.
The primary goal of OGME at Doctors Hospital is to transition medical students into skilled, confident, practicing osteopathic physicians. Our residents and fellows continue their osteopathic training as they endeavor to expand their medical knowledge. Their professional skills are honed by demonstrating an ability to act with integrity, intellectual honesty, respect, and sensitivity to others. Following their graduation, it is our goal at Doctors Hospital/OhioHealth to provide opportunities to practice in our community. Our graduates continue to advance their skills of life-long learning via our continuing medical education programs.
Osteopathic medical education has been taken to a new level at Doctors Hospital through the beautiful Heritage Center for Osteopathic Medical Education and Peter E. Johnston, D.O. Simulation Center. Our mission is to provide educational opportunities which advance patient care and safety through state-of-the-art technology to maximize learning in a controlled environment. Simulation is used as a tool to better understand, and find solutions to, sources of errors in team settings as well as the development, maintenance, and transfer of skills from the lab to direct patient care. Our research staff is committed to promoting research opportunities for the residents and fellows in our training programs and in partnership with other OhioHealth facilities.
The Doctors Hospital family has been recognized by Thomson Reuters as a Top 100 Hospital in the major teaching hospital category, and was named to The Joint Commission’s list of Top Performers on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence on quality measures. Doctors Hospital has also received the Leapfrog award for the public comparison of hospitals on key variables such as mortality rates for certain common procedures, infection rates, safety practices and measures of efficiency. We could not be more proud. Why not make your training choice to be a part of our osteopathic family at Doctors Hospital?
