Student Electives

Dublin Methodist Hospital welcomes requests for electives from medical students who are enrolled and in good standing at an LCME or AOA accredited schools. Electives must be scheduled through the Medical Education Office.

Family Medicine Sub-Internship

During this four week rotation the 4th year medical student will spend two weeks as an active team member of the Dublin Methodist Hospital Internal Medicine inpatient service and two weeks working alongside Family Medicine physicians in the OhioHealth Primary Care Physicians office in Dublin.  Students will participate in both general medicine inpatient care and ambulatory family medicine in preparation for their PGY-1 year as a Family Medicine resident. 

This rotation is by permission only. Student must be applying to the Dublin Methodist Family Medicine for residency program. A current Affiliation Agreement between OhioHealth and the medical school must be in place prior to placement on the rotation.

This four week rotation is available from July through January.

Students must

  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have a passing USMLE or COMLEX Step 1 score
  • Be authorized by their home medical school to take the rotation/course and receive credit
  • Have malpractice insurance coverage
  • Have personal health insurance coverage
  • Have documentation of immunizations for the following:
    • Diphtheria/Tetanus booster within 10 years
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or immune status
    • Tuberculin status with documentation* and intra-dermal PPD (completed prior to beginning of each academic year)
    • Chicken pox disease history or titer, MMR for applicants after 1957
