Mission Statement

Doctors Hospital Cardiology Fellowship provides comprehensive education and training in the field of cardiovascular disease.  Graduating fellows engage in the care of patients with a variety of cardiovascular disorders and contribute to the scholarship and education within the discipline.

Program Aim

The aim of the Cardiology Fellowship Training Program is to provide advanced training to fellows in the specialty of cardiology which provides them sufficient expertise to take their board certification examination in cardiology, to act as a specialty consultant and to practice cardiology in either academic or community settings. The Cardiology faculty aims to provide an environment of inquiry and scholarship that promotes research, writing and teaching.

About the Fellowship

The cardiology fellowship program at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital accepted the first fellow into the training program in July of 2006. The fellowship is an ACGME approved 36-month program that provides board eligible/certified internist with advanced training in the field of diseases of the cardiovascular system and prepares the trainee for the AOBIM or ABIM subspecialty certification in cardiovascular disease.

Our program is unique in that the designated fellow will have the opportunity to participate in clinical and didactic sessions at our facility, as well as The Ohio State University Medical Center, Nationwide Children's Hospital, OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital and the McConnell Heart Health Center. These opportunities allow the fellow an enriching and varied experience in all facets of general cardiology with multiple faculty members. The fellowship has the flexibility to tailor to the educational interest of the qualified candidate.
