A Message from McConnell's General Manager

Dear MHHC Members,

We are gearing up for a busy month of July and August at MHHC. As the temperatures rise, it is important to remember to exercise safely and stay hydrated. During exercise both indoors and especially outdoors, hydration is vital to exercising safely. According to the American Council on Exercise (ACE), some helpful hydration tips are to drink 17-20 ounces of water two hours prior to the start of exercise and an additional 7-10 ounces every 10-20 minutes during exercise.

If you missed out on the email towards the end of June for a chance to fill out our annual Member Experience Survey, I would encourage you to do so now by clicking on this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MN9GFMV. We learn valuable information from this yearly survey and hope you will consider completing it for us. If you already have completed it, Thank You! I will report back on some of our findings in newsletters later in the year.

July is also the beginning of our annual fundraising for the American Heart Association (AHA). We will again offer many opportunities to support the AHA Heart Walk on Saturday, August 22 at the Columbus Commons. We will be offering an opportunity to purchase Big Red’s Lodge overnight stays, yearly memberships as well as our silent auction. Keep your eyes and ears open for future communication on upcoming events. In addition to helping support the cause through the purchases of MHHC items and events, we also invite you to join us and walk with us the day of the event. Many of our associates throughout the Center are Team Captains and would love to have you join their team. If you are interested, please click here. This link will take you to the OhioHealth page, and then you can scroll down to the McConnell Heart Health Center business unit and select a team to join. The more the merrier so please join us!

Thank you for supporting MHHC and giving us the opportunity each day to earn your business. We are here for you, so please let us know how we can help you continue to stay on track and reach your goals!

 Did You Know…?

Did you know we have a new piece of equipment called an InBody?

The InBody scale is a quick, safe and accurate way to measure body fat and lean mass. Your results can help you understand how your nutrition, exercise and lifestyle regimen are affecting your body. The appointment includes a one-on-one consultation with an Exercise Physiologist to review your results. Please call (614) 566.3804 for pricing and to schedule an appointment.

Did you know that currently we have 1,934 members with an active Fitlinxx status?

If you aren’t aware of what Fitlinxx can do for you or haven’t used it in a while, ask one of our Exercise Physiologists for help the next time you are in the Center. Fitlinxx is a wonderful tool to help you track your workouts and it even lets you know if you are using proper range of motion on the Cybex strength equipment. In May 2015, we had a total of 1,160 individual members log into Fitlinxx with a total a total of 6,814 workout days. Keep it up!!

Did you know we recently purchased some additional strength training equipment?

We invite you to check out some new equipment located on the main level of the fitness floor. We have added an additional squat rack and bench press to allow more members to utilize these pieces at the same. There is also a new LifeFitness Synergy multi-function station that provides additional opportunities as well. Soon, we will be updating our free weights!
