A Message from McConnell's General Manager
Dear MHHC Members,
I want to take a few moments to thank everyone who completed our online member survey. Every year the survey is instrumental in helping us learn more about our membership, how your needs are changing and being met, and what we can do to further provide a top notch experience for you.
I am currently reviewing all the survey results and will share some of what we learned in our September newsletter. One of the biggest compliments we can receive is that you would recommend the McConnell Heart Health Center to your family and friends. Of this year’s survey respondents, 95% said they would refer their family, friends and colleagues to the Center. Again, thank you for putting your trust in us and for allowing us to be your Center of choice for your health and wellness.
August is always a very busy time for us. Our annual American Heart Association Fundraising is in full swing. Here are a few of the things you will see happening around the Center:
- Silent Auction Items will be available July 31 – August 10. Our teams are putting together some great basket ideas this year.
- Join Monica, on August 7 from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. for a Zumba Dance Party in Studio 2! A $5.00 donation to the American Heart Association is all it takes to end your week with a dance party!
- Please continue to utilize our spare change banks located at the café and front desk registers, and check out the buck a book table in the lower seating area. You would be surprised how quickly that adds up. Last year we raised more than $800 in spare change!
- The AHA Walk will be on Saturday, August 22, at the Columbus Commons. We would love to have you and your family and friends join us and Team OhioHealth! To join a team: please click here!
- The link will take you to the OhioHealth team page. Scroll down until you find McConnell Heart Health Center. There are 10 team captains throughout MHHC, and they are listed. Follow the prompts to join! Even if you are unsure if you can join us on the day of the walk, please feel free to sign up. Each person that signs up will receive an OhioHealth walk t-shirt.
Thank you for choosing MHHC to be your preferred partner in your health and wellness. We look forward to seeing you in the Center!

Early Detection Key to Preventing or Limiting Vascular Disease
Nearly half of all Americans will develop vascular disease in their lifetime. If left untreated, it can lead to debilitating conditions and even be life-threatening.
As part of our commitment to helping you improve your health, OhioHealth is offering convenient, low-cost screenings for vascular disease. No physician referral or prescription is required for these painless, non-invasive tests. Results are mailed directly to you and your primary care provider who can answer questions and help you develop a care plan.
If you have any of the following risk factors and have not already had a screening by your physician, you should consider vascular screenings.
- Family history
- High cholesterol
- Heart disease
- Renal Failure
- Chronic leg cramps
Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening looks for ballooning in the wall of the abdominal aorta (an aneurysm).
Carotid artery disease screening scans for plaque buildup in the carotid (neck) arteries. Left untreated, blocked carotid arteries can cause a stroke.
Peripheral artery disease screening checks for blockages, narrowing and plaque buildup in the leg arteries which can lead to peripheral artery disease.
Screenings are $95 for all three or $35 each. To schedule an appointment for screenings, call (614) 262.6772 or 1 (800) 851.7342.
