Using exercise, education and peer support, our 8-week Cancer Wellness Program empowers cancer patients to improve their quality of life at any given stage of treatment.

Scientific research has proven that exercise is safe and beneficial for those undergoing and following cancer treatments. Exercise is an integral part of the cancer recovery process. Benefits of exercise include:

  • improved fitness and physical functioning
  • reduced fatigue
  • increased energy levels
  • reduced pain and increased pain tolerance
  • improved quality of life
  • improved tolerance to chemotherapy
  • strengthened immune function
  • decreased anxiety and depression
  • increased muscular strength and endurance
  • reduced body fat

What to expect

Prior to the start of the program, each participant will meet one-on-one with a clinical exercise physiologist to discuss their health history, current treatment status, individual needs and goals and answer any questions or concerns.

This consultation also will include a six minute walk test and other assessments to help establish exercise limitations and provide the safest and most valuable exercise program for each participant.

Our Cancer Wellness Program consists of 8-weeks of supervised exercise in a group session two days per week, lasting approximately one hour per session.

These sessions will include cardiovascular and strengthening exercises as well as stretching for a total body workout.

In addition, the program will include emphasis on other important aspects to your cancer recovery, including:

  • nutrition
  • yoga/meditation
  • lifestyle modification
  • aquatic therapy
