Meet the Faculty
ACPE Certified Educator
Mike Oskin is ordained in the Church of the Brethren. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA.; his Master of Public Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh; and his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. After seminary, he was a parish pastor for two years and then went into hospital ministry. He completed his clinical pastoral education (CPE) at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland, OH, and Abington Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. His supervisory training was completed at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, VA. Mike is an Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) Certified Educator and a board-certified chaplain in the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC).
Vice President, OhioHealth Mission and Ministry
Keith Vesper is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. He earned a Bachelor of Science in physics and later attended Duke Divinity School where he earned both a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology with a specialization in pastoral counseling. He completed his CPE at Duke University Medical Center and his supervisory training at Denver Presbyterian Hospital. Keith is an ACPE Certified Educator and a board-certified chaplain in the APC.
Manager - Clinical Pastoral Education
Jeff Holman is an endorsed Roman Catholic ACPE Certified Educator. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and a Masters in Theological Studies from Duke Divinity School. Jeff served as the Director of Pastoral Care in a large, Franciscan congregation when he discovered CPE in a continuing education experience that led him to enroll in an Extended Unit at UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC. He stayed with Rex and completed a Residency over a two year period with time split between parish work and hospital ministry before going on to complete his supervisory training. Jeff led a CPE program at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN before moving to Columbus to work with OSUMC’s program prior to becoming a part of our team here at OhioHealth.
System Director, Faith Community Relations
Kristin Langstraat is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, and a Master of Divinity at the Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, CA. After seminary, Kristin did a CPE residency at the University of Minnesota Hospital and then served as a parish pastor in Minnesota. Kristin served as a volunteer in mission in Italy for four years and then did another CPE residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. Kristin completed her supervisory CPE at the Fairview CPE Center in Minneapolis. She is an ACPE Certified Educator.
Pastoral Care Director
Barbara Bullock is an ordained minister with the American Baptist Churches. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in financial administration from Michigan State University and her Masters of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, IN. Before coming to OhioHealth in 2012, she worked in the financial sector and for two other large hospital systems. She completed her CPE training at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis and then worked for Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, NC. She is an ACPE Certified Educator and board-certified chaplain with the APC.
ACPE Certified Educator Candidate
Ben is an endorsed Humanist Chaplain with the American Humanist Association. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Jewish Studies from The Ohio State University and his Masters of Divinity from the Methodist School of Ohio. Ben completed his CPE internship and residency with OhioHealth including a second year residency in Palliative Care. He currently functions as a staff chaplain for OhioHealth as well as Certified Educator Candidate.
CPE Curriculum Overview
We present a core curriculum that addresses three areas of pastoral competency. Our methodology for teaching the core curriculum includes a variety of seminars and assignments.
