Runners have a unique mindset that drives them to run, through the heat and the cold, come rain or shine. Whether you’re a sprinter or triathlete, our sports medicine team can assess your specific needs and create an individualized plan for overcoming barriers, preventing potential problems and maximizing your performance.
“We think there is a real void out there for this kind of clinic. We’re not aware of any program like this in the region.” —Darrin Bright, MD, Marathon Runner, MAX Sports Medicine, OhioHealth Runner’s Clinic
Runner’s Health Clinic
Created for runners by runners, the OhioHealth Runner’s Clinic provides everything an athlete needs to improve their form, endurance and overall performance. It begins with a thorough, three-hour diagnostic exam that evaluates their running style, breathing techniques, posture, gait and much more. Under the direction of Dr. Darrin Bright, a multi-disciplinary team of experts—most of whom are runners themselves—makes a recommendation for improving performance, identifies potential problems that lead to common running injuries, and a comprehensive plan of action, from nutrition and recovery to orthotics and endurance recommendations.
Enhancing Your Performance
The Runner’s Clinic offers an extensive review of technique, training, conditioning, nutrition and other factors that influence distance running. It uses the latest technology to probe every aspect of a runner’s stride, from the pressure points on the feet to flexion in the knees.
Evaluation and Assessment
At the Runner’s Clinic, your three-hour comprehensive evaluation and assessment includes a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Darrin Bright, Medical Director for the Columbus Marathon, Cap City Marathon and coach for Marathoners in Training (MIT). It also includes:
Dartfish video analysis to assess running technique and gait
Full musculoskeletal and biomechanical assessment with physical therapist
Personalized nutrition counseling with sports dietitian
Expert running shoe evaluation
Force plate assessment of foot biomechanics
Helping Others Reach Their Goals: Marathoners in Training Partnership
In 2000, a group of like-minded individuals who wanted to pursue their passion for running and share it with others got together to create Marathoners in Training (MIT). They met weekly to help one another reach their half or full marathon goal. Today, MIT utilizes 45 dedicated coaches to train runners and walkers from all levels of experience. We’re proud to say our own Dr. Darrin Bright is one of these coaches. So whether your goal is a 5K, half or full marathon or even a multi-sport event, MIT will provide comprehensive training in a supportive atmosphere that will enable you to meet your goals and make plenty of friends along the way.
Celebrating the Commitment to a Healthy Lifestyle: M3S Sports Partnership

WE share their passion for fitness and their love of running and are happy to show it by sponsoring events that include the annual First on the First 5K, The Capital City Marathon and Emerald City Marathon.
