Welcome to Doctors Hospital and its outstanding osteopathic graduate medical education (OGME) programs! Our residency and fellowship programs are a source of pride to our medical education community and our entire hospital team.
The primary goal of OGME at Doctors Hospital is to transition medical students into skilled, confident, practicing osteopathic physicians. Our residents and fellows work hard, and learn far more than they ever imagined. They endeavor to expand their medical knowledge and their professional skills by demonstrating an ability to act with integrity, intellectual honesty, respect, and sensitivity to others. Once they graduate, it is our goal to provide opportunities to practice in our community and to advance our graduates’ skills of life long learning via our continuing medical education programs.
Through the beautiful Heritage Center for Osteopathic Medical Education, and its Simulation Center, we are taking osteopathic medical education to a new level. Our mission is to provide educational opportunities which advance patient care and safety through state-of-the-art technology to maximize learning in a controlled environment. Simulation is used as a tool to better understand, and find solutions to, sources of errors in team settings as well as the development, maintenance, and transfer of skills from the lab to direct patient care.
The Doctors Hospital family has been recognized by Thomson Reuters as a Top 100 Hospital in the major teaching hospital category, and was named to The Joint Commission’s list of Top Performers on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence on several quality measures. We could not be more proud. Why not make your family a part of our family?
Fraternally yours,
William J. Burke, DO, FACOFP Vice President of Medical Education
