Community Mobility

  • To use the Wheelchair Seating Clinic
  • To regain independence and learn to stay safe
  • To get extra assistance so I can make the most of my therapy and my life

Our Community Mobility programs helps ensure safe independence and assists patients and their families throughout recovery. We offer a variety of services to help patients at home and as they re-enter the community.

D.R.I.V.E. Program (Driver Rehabilitation Instruction Vehicle Education):

  • This program includes a clinical assessment of visual, perceptual, cognitive, psychosocial and motor aspects of performance and an on-the-road driving evaluation.
  • Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialists recommend adaptive equipment, provide driver training, and education on community mobility resources, if a patient can no longer safely drive.
  • The program is licensed by The Ohio Department of Public Safety as a Driver Rehabilitation School (2002), The Ohio Occupational Therapy Association’s Older Adult Member Support Group Chair and The Ohio liaison to American Occupational Therapy Older Driver Initiative.
  • Contact us at (740) 615-2660

Falls Prevention Program:

  • Physicians and therapists work together to bring confidence to patients at risk for falls, and to those who have fallen before or have a fear of falling.
  • A comprehensive medical evaluation is given to determine fall risk factors.
  • Our team can recommend a plan for home exercises, appropriate footwear and assistive devices, as well as changes to the home environment to avoid falls.
  • Contact us at (614) 566-5858

Wheelchair Seating Clinic:

  • A patient evaluation is completed to determine the most appropriate mobility device based on medical needs.
  • Our team of physicians and physical or occupational therapists performs a wheelchair fitting or assesses improvements needed in current devices.
  • An onsite medical supplier submits necessary insurance paperwork and provides equipment when appropriate.
  • Contact us at (614) 566-1139
