The Women's Center at Riverside

The new Women's Center at Riverside offers comprehensive women's health services in one convenient location. Services in the new Women's Center include:

Who we are

The Women's Center, opened in June of 2008, began as the vision of passionate doctors who realized the need comprehensive center for women's health.

Now, thousands of hours of research and planning that has come to fruition in the form of an initiative that takes all of the excellent programs already available at Riverside and brings them together into one location within the hospital. A key feature in the design for the new Women's Center is patient convenience.

A number of the Riverside's Women's Health services were scattered across the hospital campus, making access difficult and confusing, and increasing the patient's anxiety and stress during times of physical discomfort. In the new Women's Center, all women's health subspecialty treatment areas are centralized, thus eliminating the frustration for patients and their families, of having to travel from one end of Riverside's large complex to the other.

The former entrance to the emergency department, ideal because of its proximity to Labor and Delivery, is now the dedicated entrance to the Women's Center. The Center houses:

Location

The first floor
At the Women's Center, patients enter through the dedicated entrance into a beautiful and comprehensive center. The corridor leading to the Information Area, features the offices for genetics counseling, massage therapy, lactation consulting, infant care services and the spacious Women's Boutique. The Maternal-Fetal Medicine facility, also situated on this floor, provides ample and convenient physician/patient rooms for outpatient services including rooms for:

  • Ultrasound
  • Fetal Monitoring
  • Genetics counseling
  • Private consultations

This central entrance also provides visitors easy access to:

  • The Family Care Unit
  • The High Risk Pregnancy Unit
  • Enhanced Gynecological Services
  • Ob/Gyn Community Care

The lower level
The Women's Center also houses the recently renovated Riverside Ob/Gyn Community Care, specializing in caring for the needs of women in our community. In addition, it provides an ideal facility for training future Ob/Gyn physicians.

Dr. Carl Krantz, MD, chairman of Ob/Gyn Residency Training Program at Riverside, explains that the training of Ob/Gyn physicians absolutely requires hands-on experience. Riverside is the ideal teaching facility for these future leaders since the hospital's excellent reputation ensures that 20 to 40 patients per day will seek care at its facilities.

For the 16 doctors who complete their four-year residency training at Riverside, this large number of patients allows them to handle more cases. This way the doctors gain first hand experience with the diagnosis and treatment of a wider range of women's health issues.

This facility was designed to provide more efficient accommodations for both patients and doctors. It includes:

  • a welcoming patient reception area
  • ten exam rooms
  • 4 procedure rooms
  • 4 triage rooms
  • a conference room for the residency program
