Cancer Care Program Accredited
Doctors Hospital's cancer program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Teaching Hospital Cancer Program with commendation in clinical research and community education. This accreditation means we offer total cancer care, including state-of-the art diagnosis, treatment and follow-up, that meets or exceeds quality standards.
Coding Accuracy
In 2007 and 2008, Doctors Hospital, along with Grant Medical Center and Riverside Methodist Hospital, was named to the "Top 200 Coding Hospitals in the U.S." Sponsored by the American Health Information Management Association, the national study was conducted by Ingenix, a leading health information company, and recognizes hospitals with the most complete and compliant medical coding practices for the previous year. Medical coding assigns codes to diagnoses and procedures which help in financial reimbursement. The award validates the high level of attention to patient charts and medical records.
VHA Leadership Award
Doctors Hospital received a 2007 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence. The award recognizes VHA member organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary levels of performance in clinical excellence.
Excellence in Critical Care
The Doctors Hospital Critical Care Team received the Circle of Excellence, Excellence in Collaboration Nurse to Administration Award by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses in 2007. Recipients of the prestigious Circle of Excellence Awards represent contributions and achievements that exemplify AACN's mission, vision, values and ethic of care.
Nationally recognized for quality care
Doctors is the only hospital in central Ohio to earn dual accreditation by the American Osteopathic Association and the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. In addition, Doctors Hospital is accredited as a designated chest pain center.
Heart care program recognized
In 2004, the heart care program at Doctors Hospital was named to the UnitedHealth Premium Network, an initiative that recognizes quality and cost-efficient healthcare and identifies hospitals whose programs provide treatment that improves patient survival rates and reduces hospital stays and costs.
$18-million Osteopathic Heritage Foundation grant
The Columbus-based Osteopathic Heritage Foundation (Foundation) has awarded a 10-year, $18-million grant to support improved patient care access and osteopathic post-graduate medical education at OhioHealth’s Doctors Hospital. This is the largest award the Foundation has made in its history and the largest gift ever received by an OhioHealth facility or program.
Employee awards and recognition
Doris Kazee, RN at Doctors Hospital, was honored with the 2004 Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives (OONE) Leadership Award. This award recognizes a nurse who exhibits innovative leadership in the workplace and in the community, promotes practice by means of research, advocacy for care and advancement of nursing practices, displays excellent strategic planning and is a role model.
Shirley Evans, International Certified Lactation Consultant at Doctors Hospital, was named the 2003 Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year for her hard work in educating and promoting breastfeeding. Every Ohio hospital can nominate one person for the award, which was created in 1996 to honor an employee who demonstrates leadership, reflects the values and ideals of Ohio’s healthcare facilities, goes above and beyond the call of duty, gives back to the community and has overcome odds to succeed.
Member of a top rated integrated health network
In 2004, OhioHealth was named in the top 100 integrated health networks by Verispan. The "IHN 100" ranks organizations that are using higher degrees of integration to excel clinically and financially. In 2001 and 2002, OhioHealth ranked in the top 50 integrated healthcare networks in the nation by SMG Marketing Group.
