Riverside Methodist Hospital's Jennifer Beard, MD, has been selected as director of The Center for Medical Education and InnovationTM (CME+I).
Dr. Beard is no stranger to Riverside Methodist. After obtaining her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine, Dr. Beard joined Riverside Methodist as an Internal Medicine resident. She has been affiliated with OhioHealth ever since, and most recently served in Medical Education as the Assistant Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
"Her dedication to educating young physicians and associates at Riverside Methodist Hospital makes her ideal for this position," said Doug Knutson, MD, vice president, Medical Education. "Her passion and energy for training the physicians of tomorrow is remarkable."
Dr. Beard has a proven track record of educational excellence and leadership. In addition to her work in resident education, she is an Assistant Director for the Internal Medicine Clerkship at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She also has developed and coordinated the simulation training for students and medicine residents in the CME+I. Last spring, The Ohio State University College of Medicine presented her with the Distinguished Educator Award to recognize her achievements.
Despite the demands of her current and previous positions, Dr. Beard has devoted 11 years, to the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps, training medics, other physicians and helping care for active-duty soldiers and veterans. Her military commitment has included two deployments and earned her a promotion to the rank of major and a medal of commendation from the Army.
