Doctors Hospital Family Medicine residency program is a three-year, ACGME-accredited program, committed to empowering family physicians to provide affordable, accessible and high-quality healthcare for all. Our program focuses on a robust ambulatory experience centered around our family practice office in Grove City, Ohio, and our mobile community clinics within the Greater Columbus Metropolitan area. We are part of one of the largest osteopathic training sites in the United States.

A Comprehensive Curriculum for In-depth Training
Our curriculum trains residents to be experts in treating a broad array of health conditions.
It includes a robust ambulatory experience that goes beyond what can be expected of most family residency programs. Extensive ambulatory training occurs in our state-of-the-art Family Practice Center in Grove City, where patients make appointments for outpatient medical and preventive care. Here, junior residents see patients four to five half-days per week in the second year, and senior residents see patients four to five half-days per week, when not on a full month out rotation.
Our residents also rotate through OhioHealth Doctors Hospital and the world-renowned Nationwide Children’s Hospital for in-patient rotation experiences.

We have strong osteopathic roots at Doctors Hospital. Osteopathy is interwoven into the way we care for our patients and how we educate our residents. All of our residents are Osteopathically Recognized once they join our program. Learn more about Osteopathic Medicine at DHFM.
- Longitudinal Curricula: Residents rotate through multiple longitudinal clinics to reinforce clinical skills and knowledge in key areas. Learn more about our Longitudinal Curricula.

Our program is designed to ensure residents experience success and well-being during their years of training. It includes but is not limited to the following:
- Scholarly Activity

We foster an environment of collaboration between residents, faculty and the medical community to support research pursuits. To that end, our family residency program offers protected time set aside for research, as well as access to the experts and resources at the OhioHealth Research and Innovation Institute. Residents further have support from a collaborative Doctors Hospital Family Practice research committee and faculty research advisors.

- Pharmacists are on staff for medicine-list reconciliations and complicated therapeutic questions.
- A PCMH Health Coach is available for support in challenging situations concerning patient management.
- We have wellness initiatives that meet ACGME duty-hour regulations and allow for time away to attend doctor appointments. OhioHealth’s employee assistance program provides additional wellness resources and support.
- Residents have $1,800 annual stipend to use for travel, food and lodging for conferences attended while in training. Monies can also be used for research related expenses (presentations, conferences, etc).

Residents at the Doctors Hospital Family Practice Residency are actively engaged in a variety of community service projects. Our community work provides residents the opportunity to build competence in treating diverse patients in a variety of settings.This includes the OhioHealth Wellness on Wheels 54-foot mobile unit that brings primary care services to residents of underserved neighborhoods.
